I Usually Wake Up In Fear

It doesn’t matter when I lay down, or whether it’s at night or if it’s for a nap.

I wake up afraid.

I, of course, am hopeful, that this is just a phase I am going through.

When I am asleep at night, I worry that someone is going to bust into my house and kill my wife and I.

I hate it.

I want to live.

I don’t want to die young. I want to live to be old.

As long as I’m in good health that is.

  1. I do relate to what you are saying. Almost every morning I wake up with a worry forefront on my mind. If I can stall responding to this worry, my day generally takes shape in a positive way. If I act on this worry or this anxiety as I am waking up it generally colors or discolors my day. For me what works the best is to not rush quickly to respond to the anxiety but to let it dissipate as I start my day. I try to let the anxiety pass (or talk myself out of it) as I manage my morning routine. Later in the day the thing I was so anxious about often does not seem so pressing.
